VIA

At IBECOME, we believe that a volunteer’s personal experience of transformation in the field is of the utmost importance. To better understand the impact IBECOME has on both the host communities and the volunteers themselves, one of our founders used her master’s in anthropology in this field to design the Volunteer Impact Assessment ("VIA") initiative for all volunteers at IBECOME.

VIA is a multi-leveled evaluation system that will help programming in a variety of ways. The comprehensive demographic data collected will go beyond giving information on the volunteers’ backgrounds, purposes, and experiences to address overarching programming issues and also examine the experiences of staff and students in host communities.

The goals of VIA include improving volunteer preparation, improving volunteer training, improving recruiting procedures, and enhancing fundraising opportunities by giving donors a better understanding of IB’s unique impact on volunteers.
